| Born in New York on Aug. 12, 1906. During the late 1920s Pierce was a cartoonist and columnist for newspapers in San Francisco and Los Angeles. In 1930 he and Alfred Dupont were commissioned to paint murals in the Hotel William Taylor in San Francisco. He died in Los Angeles on Feb. 19, 1972.
