This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Jessie Fremont Gale Herring    (1863-1937)

Born in Colton, New York in 1863, the family moved to North Attleborough, Massachusetts.  Her artistic education is currently unknown.  She married John Herring in 1894, and the 1900 Census lists her as an Artist and Teacher.

Her husband died of Cancer in 1908, and about 1918 she moved to California. First settling in Oakland, California, she is shown as a teacher at the C.L. Williams Institute, and later as living in Berkeley, California.

Her death occurred in 1937, and she was buried at the Gale family cemetery in Gale, New York.
