| | Born in California on Jan. 9, 1880. Holcombe studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute in San Francisco in 1902-04. By 1923 he had settled in San Diego and was working as an artist. Due to the Depression he later was a messenger for Western Union. He died in San Diego on Jan. 9, 1949. | Source:
