| Born in Stockport, England in 1886. By the 1930s Holden had settled in Oakland and was active in the local art scene. On Oct. 11, 1964 he went sketching into a secluded part of Del Norte County and disappeared; his body was never found. He was the brother of artist James A. Holden.
