This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Born in Sebec, ME on Dec. 8, 1845. Adele Shaw began painting when quite young; a painting of the family farm and portrait of her father in the 1860s are extant. The family came to southern California in 1873 and the following year Adele married A. J. Davidson; however, the marriage ended in divorce. She was painting scenes of Los Angeles and Sierra Madre during that time, and evidently made several painting trips to Idaho. At the turn of the century she returned to the East to study at the Cooper Union in NYC. Her track is lost at that time.
