Barbara T. Roy operated a studio in La Jolla, California beginning in 1960. A painter, she is well known for her portrait and figure work as well as her impressionistic landscapes, and still life works.
Roy trained at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, and in L.A. with Sergei Bongart. She attended San Diego State University and spent time training with sculptor Donal Hord, and well known watercolorist Robert E. Wood.
In earlier years the Roy family operated a photography studio and art gallery in La Jolla, California. In later years she spent time touring many western states conducting painting workshops. She has taught art classes for the San Diego Community College District.
Barbara Roy has been an exhibiting member of the San Diego Watercolor Society, and San Diego Art Institute in Balboa Park. She served several terms as President of the La Jolla Art Association (an organization founded by Alfred Mitchell and Maurice Braun).
