| Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1847. DuBois studied at the PAFA under Daniel R. Knight and Peter Moran. While in California in 1871, he painted in Yosemite. Upon returning to his native city, he was an assayer at the mint until his death on Aug. 8, 1917.
