Rachel Stearns (1895-1979)
Ever since coming to Chicago to study at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, where she completed the course as an honor student, Rachel Stearns was enthusiastic about Chicago as an art center and the wonderful work of the All-Illinois Society of the Fine Arts to make it such. She made her home in Chicago for some time, first doing commercial work and continuing study with Frederick Grant and then devoting her time to private teaching and painting.
She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin where she assisted on the faculty of the art department and carried on original research work concerning the Factors of Form Perception.
