| Born in Tennessee on June 8, 1889. Griffith settled in San Francisco in 1907 and worked there as an artist through the 1940s. For 14 years he served as master at arms for the Military Sea Transport Service. He later moved across the Golden Gate to Sausalito where he remained until his death on May 2, 1969.
