| Grant was a "colored artist" and a resident of Los Angeles in 1891-94. During this time he painted an 8’x12’ oil of the Glen Ivy Hotel and surroundings in Coldwater Canyon of Riverside. A photograph was made of the painting by local photographer S. Tressler.
