| Hegert was born on October 27, 1908 in Smith County. Taught school and worked as an artist in Jewel County from the 1930s. Often asked to design logos and other art projects. Lived in
Esbon before moving to Montrose in 1958. Earned a BA degree in Art Education from
Fort Hays State Univ. in 1961. Died in Montrose, Kansas on October 19, 1997.
