This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Hood was born October 22, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas.  Native American, member of the Choctaw tribe.  Earned at BAE in 1967, a MA in 1972, and a MFA in 1975 from Wichita State Univ. Also studied at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, 1972-73, and the Minneapolis School of Art, 1972-73.  Served as curator at the Ulrich Museum of Art from 1971, as curator for the Institute of American Indian Arts Museum in Santa Fe, and as curator at the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, OK.  Was curator of Art at the West Point Museum in 2007. Author of After Lewis and Clark: The Forces of Change, 1806–1871 (2006) and The Art of America's Plains Indians (1995).

Exhibitions: Oklahoma Art Center, 1971; Western Illinois Univ., 1974; Philbrook Museum
of Art, 1975; Five Civilized Tribes Museum; and more.

Collections: Philbrook Museum of Art; Wichita State Univ.; Emprise Bank Collection.
