This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Donald Dean Perry was born September 29, 1939 in Hutchinson, Kansas.  He earned a BFA from Pittsburg State Univ., a Masters of Science in Education and Art from Kansas State Univ., and a MFA in printmaking from the Univ. of Wisconsin.  He began his career as an art teacher at North Junior High School in Salina from 1962 to 1965, was instructor of drawing and painting in the Extension Division at Kansas State Univ. from 1964 to 1966, and an art teacher at Salina High School in 1965 and 1966. Perry taught art at the Univ. of Wisconsin Center System from 1967 to 1972. He taught at Emporia State Univ. from 1972-2005 serving as assistant professor of art from 1972 to 1977, an associate professor of art from 1977 to 1984, and a professor of
art from 1984 to 2005. He also served Emporia State as chairman of the division of art and director of the Norman R. Eppink Art Gallery. Curator of the National Invitational Drawing Exhibition at Emporia State Univ. from 1982-91.  He died on May 27, 2008 in Emporia, Kansas.
