Biography from Collier Gallery, Fine Art Estate of Lon Megargee:
R. C. Merrill credits his skills and discipline as an artist from the study and drawing of the human form.  He studied under James Garrison and William Voss, two masters of life drawing.

Merrill's sculpting career began in 1971 in the western and wildlife genre.  In the 1980s, he blended his sculpting and design talents with his blacksmithing skills; the result, furnishings as fine art.

He finds inspiration in the mountains of Eastern Arizona where his studio and foundry are located.  His many awards include 2007 and 2009 Western Design Conference Best Metal Artist, 2007. True West Magazine Best Interior Designer and Sass Cowboy Hall of Fame Sculptor.

2009 Sourcebook, Western Design Conference.
