This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Stephanie Taylor has been a working studio artist since 1977. She is best known for large-scale, commissioned installations, murals and sculpture.  She lived and worked in the Los Angeles area until 1982, when she returned to Northern California. Since then, she has created exterior urban mural and sculpture installations in the San Francisco and Sacramento areas.

With a degree in history, she’s inspired by location and how people relate to each other. She focuses on in-depth research and artwork of life-size figures and a variety of materials, from paint to steel to cement.

Taylor also explores an internal world, and has exhibited most years since 1986. She is inspired by contemporary political and social issues, a quest for imperfection and an intense love of mark making.

Taylor is a 4th generation Californian, born and raised in the Sacramento Valley. She has a degree in History from UCLA, 1977, with an emphasis on the Political Philosophers.

In 2006, she received an MA in sculpture from Sacramento State. She is also a freelance contributor to the Sacramento Bee Opinion Editorials.
