This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Ralph Bush (1933 - ), a resident of Waldoboro, Maine, creates visually stunning, luminous seascapes and landscapes on location throughout New England.

Mr. Bush began his artistic training with undergraduate studies at the New England School of Art in Boston.  Continuing his education on the graduate level at the Massachusetts College of Art, he concentrated on watercolor.  He studied with well- respected artists such as Joseph Santoro, Charles Demotropolus, and Tom O’Hara.  His studies also included work with watercolorist Claude Crone, A.W.S. and Don Stone, A.W.S.

Among the numerous awards Mr. Bush has won are Yankee Magazine’s Robb Sagendorph Memorial Award for Art, the Copley Society’s John Singleton Copley Award for Excellence in Art, the New England Watercolor Society’s Gold Medal, and many others.

From 3000 entries his work The Old State House in Boston was chosen as one of the 100 winners in the First Annual Arts for the Parks competition and was exhibited in the Great Hall of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.  Mr. Bush’s distinguished awards have earned him the designation of Copley Master of the Copley Society of Boston.

He enjoys annual visits to Maine’s Monhegan Island, where he takes great pleasure in the tranquil environment and inspiring scenery for his paintings.

Mr. Bush maintains an art studio and gallery in his home in Waldoboro, Maine, with his wife Martha.

Information provided by Sue Bush, the artist's daughter.
