Chen Zhi-Guang was born in Fujian, China, in 1963, and graduated from
Fujian Normal University in 1988. He is renowned for making sculptures
of metal ants, using ants to be spokesperson of his art. To take a
closer look, these metal ants not only have shining and skinny surface,
but also possess biological features which include disguises of ancient
or modern people.
There are two groups of personified ant
sculptures, one is those with undistinguished genders and with
diversified outfits, and another group is those small, realistic ants.
Through Chen Zhi-Guang’s idea, those stainless steel is like been fused
with real life. He once expressed that when he discovered ants from
artistic angle and interpreted into his own artistic language, it
doesn’t really matter about ants anymore, but the upcoming discussion.
