Biography from Golden Gallery:

Marguerite Merriam Diddel (1896-1970)

The older sister of the artist Norma L. Diddel, was born to parents who had been married in 1893 in Wichita, Kansas.  In 1913 she finished her studies at Central Business College and in 1914 she received her Teacher’s Certificate from the State of Colorado and began teaching in Denver Schools.  Indeed she is listed in the Colorado School Directory.  She received her Penmanship Certificate in 1920 and in 1929 she completed her Master of Arts at Columbia University, New York.

Like her prolific sister, she too created many paintings, etchings, prints, pottery which she exhibited in Colorado and elsewhere.  Having completed her advanced studies at Columbia University, she was fully aware of the modern development in art and created many pieces that demonstrate her avant-garde tendency and modern inclination and accomplishment.  She is indeed an early American and Colorado Modernist woman artist.
