Biography from Thomas Hicks Antiques:
Marisol Bustamante was born in Cordoba, Spain in 1964.   Raised on a family farm with her seven siblings, she spent most of her early childhood drawing and painting.   In 1983, her talent apparent, Bustamante's teachers advised her to continue her studies at the Facultad de Bellas Artes in Seville.   In 1988, she received her degree in Fine Arts, specializing in art restoration, and begun working on her doctorate.   For five years Bustamante worked throughout Spain on many restoration projects, such as the San Isidro Church(XIV) in Seville, and the restoration of murals in the Guadaloupe Monastry in Caceres.

Bustamante's paintings reflect the depth of her knowledge of art techniques and history, and her passion for travel.   She has been inspired by the various cultures of Europe, India and Asia and integrates these influences with her expertise in the use of materials and methods from the masters.  She utilizes mural painting techniques, textured bases, gold leaf patterns, old maps and manuscripts and mineral pigments to achieve the desired results.  Thus the work of Bustamante, combines a contemporary approach while revealing influences from the masters. Her romantic and mystical style have won her both acclaim and recognition in her native Spain and in the United States.

Bustamante lives with her Dutch husband and three daughters in Madrid Spain.
