This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Kay Mott (1907-1981) was a Santa Fe based painter and graphic artist. Originally from Leavenworth, Kansas she settled in New Mexico in 1934. 

A member of Artists Equity Association, Santa Fe chapter where she served as vice-president, she received her art education at the University of Kansas School of Architecture; the Broadmoor Art Academy in Colorado Springs; studies with Frederick Taubes in El Paso in 1951; Roderick Mead in Carlsbad, New Mexico from 1949 to 1952; Katherine Schlater, Randall Davey and John Skolle in Santa Fe.

During her career Mott exhibited at the Museum of New Mexico, 1952-56, 1958, 1960; Museum of New Mexico Travelling Shows, 1955, 1958; Sun Carnival Art Show, El Paso, 1960; Lions Club Show, Chicago, 1960; Gallery Five, Santa Fe, 1960; Artists Equity Association Regional Show, Colorado Springs, 1961; Newman Galleries, Philadelphia, 1961; El Paso Art Association Sun Carnival Exhibit, 1962; Santa Fe Invitational Exhibition, 1963; Talcott Library, East Northfield, Massachusetts, 1963 (one man show); Biennial Exhibition for New Mexico Artists, 1963.

Works by Kay Mott are in the permanent collection of the Museum of New Mexico.

Biography from New Mexico Museum of Art:
Mott had a solo exhibition of oil paintings at the Museum of Fine Art, Museum of New Mexico (now New Mexico Museum of Art) held December 8, 1963 - January 5, 1964. She was married to Roy Mott (aka L. R. Mott) and had one son. According to an obituary in the Santa Fe New Mexican published June 6, 1981, the artist died on June 1, 1981 in Coeru d'Alene, Idaho.
