Biography from Boca Raton Museum of Art:
Originally from North Carolina, Ena Swansea earned her Bachelor of Arts at the University of South Florida in Tampa and now lives and works in New York City.  Her paintings of shadows have a dreamlike, ethereal quality, composed in subtle tones and hues that speak quietly, almost in a whisper. She paints from imagination and yet somehow her paintings retain a photographic sensibility, tracing the quicksilver movement of light on the ground, interrupted by branches, leaves, and flowers. These are paintings in which the painterly touch is obvious; each brush mark leaves its singular impression. For this, and for the paintings' dalliance between the real and the abstract, they seem to take on an expressionist sensibility.

Swansea has shown extensively in New York City throughout her career.
