| Kate Eugenie Crocker was born in Sacramento, CA in 1854, the daughter of Margaret and Edwin Crocker. Kate studied locally with C. C. Nahl and enjoyed a brief art career. Her marriage to James Gunn lasted only ten months; she died in child birth on Oct. 26, 1874.
