| Margaret Eleanor Rhodes Crocker was born in Ohio on Feb. 25, 1822. As the wife of Edwin Bryant Crocker, Margaret arrived in Sacramento with the Gold Rush. A wealthy benefactress, her mansion and art collection were given to the city and is today the Crocker Art Museum. She died in New York on Nov. 1, 1901.
