This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Sue Roedder (contemporary realist painter)

Cows, chickens, nudes, landscapes, rusted automobiles, galvanized cans, people, pigs, flags, old boots, cats, etc., are only a few of the subjects Sue Roedder has addressed on canvas, in either oils or acrylics. She is best known for her Divine Bovine series (almost life-size portraits of black and white cows on a bright red background), and her Cows Visit the Museum series closely followed by her small paintings of baby chicks.

Sue’s studio/ home is in Green Hills, Pennsylvania.  Primarily a self- taught artist, her work is familiar to those who frequent local and regional art shows, both juried and non-juried.  She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including several purchase awards at the Reading Museum.  Sue has had three solo shows, two in Philadelphia, one locally.  Her work is owned and displayed in both corporate and private collections across this country and Europe.

Sue spent 10 years as a staff artist/designer for a company called “Dimensions” a craft industry leader. Her designs were featured in Woman’s Day magazine, and are still being marketed on the “Dimensions” and “Sunset” labels. Sue left this position to pursue her own passion, painting.

Ms Roedder also shows her work at the annual Immaculata University Art Show, and the Yellow Springs Art Show every May.  Sue has shown her work at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.  She was the featured artist for the 2003 Birdsboro Community Art Show, and the “Poster Artist” for the 2005 Birdsboro Community Art Show.

A Fall 2007 American Farmland article called “The Art of Conservation” featured an interview of her and photos of some of her work.

“I paint to live, and live to paint…”
