This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Norman E. Fortier (1919-2010)

Born in Massachusetts, he became a well-known marine photographer and watercolor painter.  After serving as a US Navy aerial photographer during WWII, Mr. Fortier opened a photography studio in Padanaram, Massachusetts from which he retired in 2008 after a successful career.  His studio was a destination stopover for visiting yachtsmen seeking to have him photograph their boats, share his knowledge of local waters and to view his watercolors.

Collections of his photographs have been published in two books as well as numerous periodicals.

The New Bedford Whaling Museum holds his photographs and photographs and paintings are in the art collection of  St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, Massachusetts.

In 2003, the Cuttyhunk Historical Society held an exhibition of his watercolor paintings. His photographs were exhibited at the New Bedford Whaling Museum in 2006 and 2009.
