This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| John Francis McCabe (b.1945)
His primary medium is oil on canvas or linen. His secondary mediums are charcoal and graphite. In addition to fine art portraiture, he paints landscapes and genre scenes, as he believes that one should be a painter first and only create portraits as a specialty. His work is inspired by the work of master artists, such as John Singer Sargent, William Merritt Chase, and Winslow Homer, and influenced by contemporary portrait painters with whom he has studied.
McCabe was born on January 3, 1945 and lives and works in Virginia.
