| Belle Moody Sawyer was born in San Jose, CA on Feb. 5, 1853. Belle wed Eugene Sawyer early in life. She studied at the San Jose Institute and was said to be "a gifted painter." A lifelong resident of her native city, she died of starvation on Jan. 28, 1921.
