May Slessinger was born in San Francisco, California on May 4, 1872. Slessinger was a lifelong resident of her native city. By the turn of the century she was active in the local art scene.
In 1910 she painted a miniature of William Keith who stated "She does the best work in miniature I have seen in San Francisco." In 1918 she had a spacious studio in the Fairmont Hotel. A miniature of Queen Marie of Romania resulted in the artist being named Court Miniatur (showing 500 of 799 characters). |
