Agnete Brittasius (1935-)

Born the 27th of May 1935 in Horsens, Langholt, North Jutland, Denmark. 1955, she is a primarily self-taught sculptor.  She has traveled to Western and Eastern European countries, to the U.S.A. and to East Asia.

She exhibited for the first time in 1967 at “Den Frie”, an annual Danish exhibition in Copenhagen. Since then, she has had numerous exhibitions including “The cat there walked by her self”, at the Pavilion of Art in Aalborg 1993; at The Thingbæk Chalk Mines, 1999 and in the Church of Bangsbostrand, Frederikshavn, 2000.  She has participated in juried exhibitions both in Denmark and abroad, for example,  “The International Sculpture Quadrennial”, Riga, Latvia 1992 and the International Grand Prix d’Art in Nice, France in 1989-1993 and 1996, 1998.  Her work is represented at numerous exhibitions in museums and galleries in Denmark and foreign countries.

Brittasius received 12 grants and scholarships, and was  awarded the sculpture prize “Prix Spécial de Jury Nice 90” and “Coupe de la Ville de Villauris”, France 1992 and 1993, 3rd Prix Général; l’Aigle de Bronze, France 1996, La Fontaine des Arts France, 1998. The Grant of Anna E. Munch, Denmark, 2000.

She has acted as a juror twice in national exhibitions and  is a member of the Swedish Union of Artists.
