This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Abdi Farah graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. Fine Arts in May 2009.  A recipient of several fellowships and awards for his painting and sculpting, Abdi has exhibited his work in cities across the country, including New York City, Miami, Washington, DC, and his native Baltimore.  Abdi draws inspiration from several influences, ranging from Jean-Michel Basquiat and Hieronymus Bosch to Ridley Scott and Fred Astaire.

Abdi writes, “People are beautiful, but I am also compelled by the depravity and evil contained within us all. These dualities—beauty, the grotesque, good, evil, the secular and the divine as they connect to humanity and are manifested in the plethora of interpersonal and societal relationships within our world—fuel my work.”
