This biography from the Archives of AskART:
David Williams is a painter in the American Impressionist tradition.  Born in Washington, DC. and raised in Virginia, he paints landscape, still-life and marine subjects, which he regards as an exploration of beauty, color and simplified form.

Williams began studying through private instruction around the age of ten; later, while attending art school, he stumbled upon a book The Pleasures of Painting Outdoors, which would become the starting point for a new direction.  With book in hand, he set out to teach himself plein-air painting.  Painting in the open air and directly translating a  subject from nature is where David continues to find inspiration. Large scale studio works are later developed using plein air paintings as reference.

After thirteen years working as a professional artist, Williams has paintings in collections throughout the United States.  His work has appeared in magazine and newspaper articles, featured in twelve solo exhibitions and included in over seventy group shows.

In 2009 David Williams relocated to California to paint and revel in the beauty of the Golden State.  He lives in San Luis Obispo.
