This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following information, submitted December 2010, is from Linda Paich Grimm.

Paul Sollosy (1911--) is a 99 year old artist living in Tucson, Arizona.  He has painted cowboys and western art scenes for years, and had an extensive list of collectors that bought his originals.  He was never represented by any gallery as he had so many who would buy his work directly from him.

He is now 99 years, no longer painting and those of use who know him, feel he should be listed.  He was truly a marvelous artist, painting realism from actual knowledge-as he worked as a cowboy for many years.

He was written up in Cowboys and Indians magazine in 2006-article--"Horses in His Dreams, The Cowboy Art of Paul Sollosy" by William C. Reynolds.

Biography from Savvy Collector:
As a youth, Paul Sollosy worked cattle ranches in Utah, Arizona and California. He began "cowboying" in 1926 in the Simi Valley.

He did attend art school briefly in Los Angeles at the California Art Institute and at the Art Center School.  In the 1930’s he worked for different saddle shops.

In 1967 he began a full time career in western art, moving to Scottsdale, Arizona. Still riding horses at the age of 90, Sollosy also continues to paint and to illustrate books that have a cowboy or vaquero theme.
