Xiaojian Jiao was born in Wuhu, Anhui. He graduated from Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in 1981, and got a master's degree from the China Art Academy in 1989. He went to Paris for Art City training in 1993. He became Creation Director of the China Art Academy and was active with the China Academy of Art Phenomenological Research Center. He was a member of the Chinese Artists Association.
