Biography from The Adobe Fine Art:
Creating has been a lifelong pursuit for Loverin.  In college a French major with an emphasis on art, music, and literature, she acquired a strong cultural base, which has been enhanced by travel to Europe.  For Loverin, seeing Europe with an artist’s eye is truly a transforming experience.

As a former Miss New Mexico and representative to the Miss America Pageant, hard work and dedication to a goal are not new to Loverin.  She  attributes her artistic evolution to a true passion for her work and intensive study which has been enhanced by gifted teachers…Joseph Fettingis, Ann Templeton, Robert Burridge, Ken Hosmer, Kim English, Judi Betts, and Carla O’Connor.

For Loverin, there’s no better place to paint than the diverse and captivating landscape that is unique to New Mexico. Janis is a founding member of High Desert Painters a professional, international plein air group of painters that travels and exhibits together, focusing their efforts on the ever intriguing southwestern landscape.

What people say about Loverin’s art…People use the “spiritual”, “soulful”, “romantic”, and “lavish color” to describe Loverin’s paintings.   Eric Thomson, Santa Fe Gallery owner and judge for the 2008 International Art Show and Sale in Raton, N.M., after awarding Janis a 1st place award, had this to say about Loverin’s The Midas Touch...”Spotted this one right away! It’s one of the things I particularly like in art, the ‘little gem’. The color is alive and saturated, the interpretation is free and wild. It looks like it was fun to make, which makes us smile to be around it”.

Janis Loverin’s ability to adeptly express herself in the three diverse mediums of oil, acrylic, and watercolor is remarkable. Her almost spiritual use of color transforms the ordinary to vibrant, magical expressions of the world around us. Whether painting en plain air or in the studio, Loverin’s intriguing interplay of analogous and complementary color in a strong design are instantly recognizable as a Janis Loverin painting. Janis Loverin’s art truly elevates the spirit!
