| Clara R. Sheaffer Waters was born in Quincy, IL on Sept. 7, 1869. Mrs. Waters was educated at the Chicago School of Applied Arts, Chicago Academy of Fine Art, and the CCAC. She taught art and music in the Missouri towns of Hannibal, St Joseph, and Springfield. Upon moving to California in 1921, she was head of the art department at Santa Rosa Jr. College and High School until shortly before her death on Sept. 27, 1946.
