Biography from Broadmoor Galleries:
A native of Oklahoma, Andrea Wilkinson's lifelong fascination with animals led her to a BS in Zoology from Oklahoma State University.  She now resides in Texas where as a volunteer at the Houston Zoo, she had the opportunity to educate children about wildlife and conservation.  Frequent visits on zoo grounds provide her with inspiration from observing a large variety of animals.  In 2000, she completed a memorial commission of two wrestling lion cubs for the zoo.

Andrea has attended several workshops with nationally known artists at the Fechin Institute in Taos, NM, and the Scottsdale Artists School in Scottsdale, AZ.  In 1999 and 2000, she was awarded the Gilroy Roberts scholarship "Art of Engraving" at the American Numismatic Association in Colorado Springs Colorado.  She has participated in group exhibitions in several states and one-artist shows in Texas.  Her sculpture, A Literary Scot, was featured at the AKC Art of the Dog Show in St. Louis.

Artist's Statement:
As I work, I am guided by my awe and respect for each species unique and integral place in the diversity and balance of life on our planet.  I love to watch them move and marvel at their structure.  Each species is exquisitely adapted to fill its unique niche in nature.
