This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Katherine Brimberry, printmaker and art educator, lives in Austin, Texas where she is a member of Women Printmakers of Austin.  The following text is a description of her two-week workshop, Immersive Printmaking, September 2011 at La Romita School of Art in Terni, Italy.  The school site was formerly a Capuchin Monastery.

Katherine Brimberry, founder of Flatbed Press, will teach a variety of printmaking methods to expand the artists’ visual vocabulary.  This two-week printmaking* class will cover non-toxic etching* techniques combined with monoprinting* methods.  She will also teach methods of working with multiple plates and emphasize the creative printing techniques, such as monoprinting, relief or viscosity rolls, and collaged chine collé printing.

Katherine uses a collaborative, non-toxic approach to a variety of printmaking methods which includes: Intaglio, Relief and monotyping.  The emphasis on printing in a creative way is a particular focus that Katherine uses to free an artist to create many variations of original prints from a single matrix or plate. Solar plates, a type of non-toxic etching will be introduced and explored using hand-made transparencies.  These plates combined with monoprinting techniques will allow artists to develop and create whole series of works in the two weeks.
