| Wilhelm Johan Henrik Stoopendaal (1846 – 1906)
Born in Mariestad, Stoopendaal immigrated to America in 1861 where he fought in the Civil War. After the war he returned to Sweden, but re-immigrated to live and paint in Connecticut in 1889. He was the brother-in-law of Swedish painter/illustrator Jenny Nystrom Stoopendaal and the Swedish-American portraitist Carl Fredrik von Saltza.
