Biography from Mesa Art & Framing:
Maritime artist Scott O. Kennedy fell in love with sailing as he grew up in the Newport Beach area in California in the 1950s and 1960s.  It was here he also fell in love with drawing and painting maritime scenes.  He began painting at age 13 and, by 16 his art had become so refined one of his pieces was presented to California Governor Ronald Reagan.  His mother, Dorothy Kennedy, managed Scott's artwork and helped him build a solid reputation throughout California.

Scott traveled to San Miguel de Allende in Mexico to study at the renowned art school Bellas Artes de Mexico and then traveled to Denmark in search of a traditional wooden boat to restore.  When he found the wooden Danish kutter, Svannen, he moved onboard and lived on her for ten years with his wife, Karen.  Together, with the knowledge and willing hands of the local craftsment, they were able to refurbish the Svannen and learn a great deal. During this decade Scott painted scenes from the surrounding area with his own exacting yet romantic style.  He was asked to do collections of drawings for local cities and towns depicting their heritage and scenic views.
