Maritime artist Scott O. Kennedy fell in love with sailing as he grew up in the Newport Beach area in California in the 1950s and 1960s. It was here he also fell in love with drawing and painting maritime scenes. He began painting at age 13 and, by 16 his art had become so refined one of his pieces was presented to California Governor Ronald Reagan. His mother, Dorothy Kennedy, managed Scott's artwork and helped him build a solid reputation throughout California.
