| Chien
Chung Li is a precursor of Taiwan’s post-war modern painting movement.
He was born in 1923 in Yantai, Shandong, and he settled in Taipei in
1949. He took the industrial design and printing techniques that he had
studied and used them in his painting. In 1966, with the avant-garde
expression of his first work of modern recessed-line wax-dyeing
painting, he created a new style that shocked the Taiwan art world. He
