This biography from the Archives of AskART:
William Storck graduated from Key School and went to Windham College in Putney, Vermont to study journalism. Halfway through his first semester he switched to art, much to his parents surprise. After college he studied with noted artist, Naoto Nakagawa in Vermont for one year before finishing his formal training in art at the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. He has painted professionally since l980.

William Storck's first solo show at McBride Gallery in l981 at age 24, sold out completely. Two of his paintings, Red Delicious and Swan Decoy have been published into limited edition prints. Bill has exhibited in numerous group shows on the east coast and is in private and corporate collections nationwide. A recent large oil painting of sailing on the Severn River hangs in the new Alumni Hall at the United States Naval Academy.

The spring of l990 found William Storck developing new impressionist techniques in his landscape and marine oil paintings while continuing the finely detailed still lifes he is noted for. The study of light and atmosphere, and its effect on the subject's color, has been a continuing source of inspiration in Storck's paintings. Bill is a popular artist, painting the commonplace, while making it special by focusing on the simple beauty of light and atmosphere.
