Sandra MacDiarmid uses centuries-old painting practices, and then twists them to portray her own personal experiences. She often uses a warm, orange base as the medium ground on her canvases, similar to old master painters, but then uses bolder, more brilliant hues that give a more vibrant impression upon the viewer, reinforcing the feelings of excitement she gets when she first visits the locations of her paintings.
Whether drawing from the landscapes near her home in Northern California (showing 500 of 831 characters). |
