This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following information was submitted from the artist, December 2011.

Artist Statement:
I was born on Jan 23 1949 in Boston, MA.  Up  until 1984 I painted in oil and  the work was for the most part figurative and tonal in manner. From 1974 until 1978 when I lived in Paris and Boston I worked solely in pastel and watercolor.  From 1984 until the year 2000 the work absorbed different influences starting with the Fauves between 1984 until 1990 and moving on in 1990 with the influence first of Hans Hofmann, then Willem deKooning, and finally the late Philip Guston .

In 2000  I began to work with dots.  Around 2005 the dots became textural  and extended off the canvas. Charles Giuliano referred to these as "pulled dots". Around 2006 I began to apply the colors with a cake decorator and continue to do so up to the present. All my work since early 2001 has been done with oil and wax.
