Biography from New Hampshire Antique Co-op:
After receiving his BA in studio arts at Chester College, Christopher Myott spent two years living and working in Boston. In 2007 Myott returned to his home state of New Hampshire, where he works as an artist and furniture maker in Jaffrey.

Myott is an artist in the Monadnock Region, home to the Dublin Art Colony. His paintings often depict stark interiors and geometric landscapes composed around whimsical flower arrangements. The soft color choices and applied wax patina serve to highlight the use of line and brushwork, providing a feeling of nostalgia. The salvaged wood frames built by Myott accentuate this sentiment. Organic forms contrasting with geometric angles, waxy patinas and an otherworldly aesthetic all combine in Myott's work.

Artist Statement:
“Much of my inspiration comes from early American history and folklore. I find beauty in the unrefined sincerity of utilitarian objects. Juxtaposing the despondency of early society with modern day visually exposes a macabre aesthetic that is reminiscent of America's tumultuous beginnings.”
