Biography from Pritzker Military Library:
John Downs was born in Tomah, Wisconsin and attended the University of Chicago and the Art Institute of Chicago. He has participated in activities in freelancing with many publishing companies, airlines, as well as the American Medical Association.

He has exhibited at Youngstown State University, Ohio and at the Witt Museum in Ohio. He has received Graphic Awards from the Daily News, Chicago and was First Place Winner at the Rizert Art Show, in San Antonio, Texas.

He specializes in Fine Art, and is currently illustrating for the Sun Times in Chicago. He is a member of the Artists Guild of Chicago.

Submitted by Teri Embrey, Chief Librarian of Pritzker Military Library, which hosted work by this artist and others in an exhibit "Don't Be A Dope!: Training Comics in World War II and the Korean War", February to August, 2012.  After traveling to Washington DC as part of the exhibit, work by this artist and the others will become part of the U.S. Air Force Art Program's holdings.
