Biography from Pritzker Military Library:
Military historian and artist Anthony M. Stencel brings a unique perspective to his works, through his uncommon combination of artistic talent and military service. His life experience and willingness to spend hundreds of hours researching every detail of the work he is creating insure that the final result of his labor will be exceptional.

Stencel served with the National Guard for nine years, and was deployed overseas on three joint military training exercises, cross trained as an Intelligence Non-commissioned Officer, and received the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster.

He holds a degree from the Milwaukee School of Art and Design, and has studied at the Disney Institute.

Submitted by Teri Embrey, Chief Librarian of Pritzker Military Library, which hosted work by this artist and others in an exhibit "Don't Be A Dope!: Training Comics in World War II and the Korean War", February to August, 2012.  After traveling to Washington DC as part of the exhibit, work by this artist and the others will become part of the U.S. Air Force Art Program's holdings.
