This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A lighthouse keeper in the early 20th Century near South Portland, Maine, Augustus Wilson did wildlife woodcarving that is described as suggesting "natural duck movement, and hence having great folk art appeal."  He also did carvings of other wild animals including tigers.

Biography from Slotin Folk Art:
Augustus "Gus" Aaron Wilson (1864-1950) of South Portland, Maine is internationally recognized for his creativity.  Wilson was a lighthouse keeper who regularly explored new sculptural ideas.  His decoys have massive or delicate bodies, raised wings, rocking heads, turned heads, horse hair crests, and dangling seaweed.

Absolutely nothing was off limits.  Gus single handedly impacted traditional decoy vocabulary.  He was a great innovator and, he didn't stop there.  He also created a wonderful array of folk sculptures, from small song birds to large tigers, all with identifiable Wilson characteristics.
