Auguste Potage was born in the French city of Roubaix in 1884. He was a painter, draughtsman, and watercolourist in Realist and Post-Impressionist styles of portraits, female figures, landscapes and city views.
He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts of Roubaix led by Henri-Joseph Harpignies (1819-1916).
An inhabitant of Amiens, Potage also made paintings including religious stained glass windows for the cathedral of Amiens.
His work is in the museum at Péronne.
