Artist Statement:
Much of my work is based on cubism, giving figurative images a flatness, representing our anonymity until we begin to physically, mentally, and most important, spiritually overlap one another like pieces in a kaleidoscope.  This
constantly changes, and we regroup in order to share different aspects of ourselves with those we come in contact with during our lifetime.

I've been influenced by the linear cubism of Picasso, Braque and Klee.  As a child, I was highly motivated by the broken prismatic feel of the kaleidoscope and stained glass.  A fascination with small shapes carried over to my own abstract paintings and now my beaded jewelry, with each piece consciously falling into place like fluttering pieces of confetti.

Years in Southern California saturated my palette with the drenched color brought about by the noon sun.  As opposed to cubism, my South Western work is done in an impressionistic/fauvist style influenced by Matisse, Van Gogh, Monet, and others whose paintings have been a guiding light to the world of art history and application.
