This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following information is from Jim DePaul.

I was hoping to add some information to the biography of Alyda Powell, who was an artist who lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  She was born in either 1916 or 1917, and was still alive in 2011 according to a note on one of her paintings.

There are images of her paintings on the internet spanning the 60's, 70's, 80's, and the 90's. She attended the Broadmoor Art Academy in Colorado Springs, and spent her entire life in the area.  The artist Charles Ragland Bunnell was a close friend of hers, and he had many of her paintings in his estate.  When Bunnell died in the late 60's, his estate sold off all of his paintings, including the ones by Alyda Powell.  One of Alyda Powell's paintings that he owned was addressed "to my dear friend Charles".

Alyda Powell's early work included mostly abstract work; later in life she painted impressionist landscapes. She was married to Earle Rogers Powell, who was an artist, as well as a businessman.
